A Spoonful of Sugar …

So….I like sugar, there I said it! It feels tantamount to devil worship to even think about discussing this topic - so bad has it become in the health world. Sugar can dull the eye sight, scratch up the lining of arteries, contribute to arthritic pain, speed up aging to name but a few delights so best used in moderation alongside antioxidants to minimise damage. I like the odd sugar and at the moment while I’m not training for the next Olympics and in the name of being average I’m going to indulge myself! There are however - better and worse options. I would do my absolute best to stay away from white sugar for instance because its very heavily processed, offers no health benefits and hits the blood stream faster than the latest lie from the BBC news hits the headlines. So I tend to stick to brown sugar or decent honey. Very dark brown sugar is full of B vitamins and local honey has the benefit of protecting you from hay fever and various other viral benefits. So if you're not sweet enough at least choose one with benefits 😉
