Moobs, Weightloss Resistance and Hair Loss......
There are things in our personal care products, enviroment, food and water called endocrine disruptors. They are chemicals that may interfere with the body’s hormone system and produce negative reproductive, neurological, and immune effects in us and in wildlife. These substances are natural and also man-made they are thought to cause hormone disruption, including pharmaceuticals, dioxins and dioxin-like compounds, polychlorinated biphenyls, DDT and other pesticides, and plasticizers such as bisphenol A. Endocrine disruptors may be found things we use everyday– including plastic bottles, metal food cans, detergents, flame retardants, food, toys, cosmetics, and pesticides. The NIEHS supports studies to determine whether exposure to endocrine disruptors may result in human health effects including lowered fertility and an increased incidence of endometriosis and some cancers. Research shows that endocrine disruptors may pose the greatest risk during prenatal and early postnatal development when organ and neural systems are forming. They also make you fat, cause hair loss, make your PMT worse and.....they cause man boobs. Avoid.
Setting Goals for the New Year (the least soul destroying way!)
So....... after mulling over yet another load of new years resolutions that seem all too difficult after the first week I decided 2 things......
One, I would make them achievable and two, I would break them down into small pieces so they seem much easier (sounds clever right but actually it was a really cool apt that i will post on here tomorrow (phone is dead).
From a serial beater upper of myself I need to limit the opportunities of such so I'm starting now.
I may even list them on here..when my phone is back on...I have you to answer to then though I guess :-/
Anyway, in the name of spiritual responsibility and wanting a bloody good start to the new year I'm off to chant now...if its to be it starts with me!
Yoga...the missing element?
So......after exercising like an obsessed maniac for most of my life, since college made me sit still on a chair for what seemed like 3 years straight I seemed to of lost my training mojo....It didn't help when I found out through functional testing at college that I have adrenal fatigue syndrome-this is where you knock your cortisol out of its normal rhythm through hard training, strict dieting, stress or toxins and this can make you feel exhausted every single morning and also hypothyroid ( although this is not yet recognized by all health care systems it can actually lead to diabetes ).
So, under the guidance of my Nutritional Therapist, the amazing Jo Gamble(I don't take my own advice well!) I got the correct supplements to re-balance my systems, took the lifestyle & nutrition advice & tried to rejoin the wonderful world of weight training....but I couldn't...a day here and a day there all I could manage ( I had to join and cancel about 6 gyms in the last 2 years) with a multitude of old injuries rearing their ugly heads and a still defunked energy system that triggered depression I thought my fitness days were over...massive sob...
...Enter YOGA ....wow....bloody awesome...not only are my injuries loosening up...prob due to tightness from doing weights for years but there was an emotional release which was no doubt causing some energetic blockages too...in a beautiful studio in town by the mailbox sits the wonderfully zen realm of Yogasweat...the deal...20 days for £20....wow wow wow...needless to say I'm going every day where possible...I resisted yoga for ages due to my passion for weights ( and because it can be bloody hard ) even though my practitioner told me to go 3 years ago (see.... that's how I know you lot don't always listen even if you have paid for the advise!)
Anyway I'm really hoping me and yoga are going to hit it off in a big way and spend much more time together....to be continued...need to sleep...hot yoga at 11am!
